What should I understand before buying a business?
Begin with the type of business you are prepared to acquire, the industries and locations that fit your goals, the investment range you can pursue, how you expect to finance the acquisition, and the role you want after closing. Clear acquisition criteria make it easier to recognize opportunities that deserve a closer look.
Where can I find businesses available through NIN?
You can browse current businesses available for acquisition in NIN’s opportunity directory . Availability changes as businesses enter or leave the market. Buyers can also Join the Network for first access to new-to-market businesses and featured opportunities, or complete an Investor Profile so NIN can compare detailed criteria with current opportunities and keep them in view as new businesses enter the network.
Do I need to complete an Investor Profile before browsing?
No. Buyers can review public opportunity information without completing a detailed profile. An Investor Profile becomes useful when you want NIN to confidentially match criteria such as industry, geography, purchase price, annual gross revenue, cash flow or EBITDA, available capital, financing approach, timing, and ownership preferences against current and future opportunities.
How do I request information about a specific business?
Open the business in NIN’s Business Directory and use the inquiry form beside the listing. Enter your name, email, mobile number, and any message you want the acquisition consultant to receive, then select Submit. Your inquiry stays attached to that specific business, and the assigned acquisition consultant follows up with you.
When do I complete an NDA?
After your inquiry and initial conversation, the acquisition consultant sends the NDA for that business. Completing it is a standard step before NIN shares confidential information about the opportunity.
Does signing an NDA give me access to all confidential information?
After the NDA is completed, the acquisition consultant explains what information is available next. Financial, operating, customer, asset, and transition materials are shared as the buyer and transaction advance.
How does NIN qualify prospective buyers?
Qualification is proportionate to the opportunity and stage of engagement. NIN may review acquisition experience, available capital, financing plans, timing, intended role after closing, and the buyer’s ability to pursue the specific business. The acquisition consultant will explain what is needed before the next level of information or conversation.
Do I need financing in place before I inquire?
You can inquire before financing is finalized. NIN works with lending partners who may be available when financing fits the business and the seller’s terms, or you may use your own lender. The acquisition consultant will explain what financial information is needed and coordinate transaction information with the financing team you choose.
What information should I be prepared to provide?
Requirements vary by business and can be straightforward. The acquisition consultant will explain what is needed at each stage. Depending on the opportunity, that may include information about you or your organization, acquisition experience, available capital, financing plan, timing, intended ownership role, and any partners or advisors involved.
What information will I receive about the business?
Information is shared in stages based on the specific business, the seller’s approved disclosure process, and the buyer’s qualification. The acquisition consultant explains what is available and coordinates the information needed to evaluate the opportunity as engagement progresses.
What should I evaluate before deciding whether to proceed?
Consider the company’s financial performance, revenue quality, customers, management depth, owner dependence, operations, contracts, assets, market position, growth opportunities, transition needs, and fit with your acquisition and financing goals. NIN’s guide to evaluating a business explains these areas in more detail.
How are buyer questions and conversations handled?
The acquisition consultant coordinates buyer questions, information requests, seller conversations, and follow-up, giving the buyer a consistent point of contact and keeping the opportunity-specific review organized for both parties.
How do offers move forward?
Submit your offer or proposed terms to the acquisition consultant. NIN presents the proposal to the seller, coordinates feedback and negotiations, and guides the next steps if the parties decide to move forward.
What happens during due diligence?
Due diligence is the buyer’s structured review of the business after the parties choose to move forward under preliminary terms. The scope depends on the company and transaction. The buyer’s attorneys, accountants, lenders, and other advisors conduct the professional review, while NIN coordinates opportunity-specific communication and information flow.
What happens after due diligence?
NIN guides the transaction through closing, coordinating the buyer, seller, lenders, attorneys, accountants, remaining documents, and closing conditions. NIN also helps coordinate transition planning so the business can transfer smoothly to its new owner. At closing, the acquisition becomes official: you take ownership of the business and begin its next chapter.
